Finding a space and place for quiet can be essential to navigating these chaotic times.
Because our brains are wired for survival and therefore prioritize ALARM, even a brief millisecond of something "dangerous" will fire the stress reaction & drop it into the memory, to "protect" us from it the next time. But this steers us towards increasing anxiety and wires us for reactivity, especially in the current times of seemingly constant alarm and warnings. We could be constantly on the lookout for danger, but then we are missing out on the healing...

When we are reactive we react emotionally, not rationally, and may make hasty choices that are not actually in our own best interest!
This can actually end up creating more work and create greater risk or higher actual costs than could have been avoided if we were able to calmly assess and choose from a place of rational evaluation of a situation.
If we practice regularly with accessing our calm, and take time to find our quiet, we can entrain the brain to accumulate evidence of GOOD in the world and help our nervous system to recognize the beauty that is also present. Yes shitty things are happening, and "energy flows where attention goes", what will you focus on? I'm not suggesting you put your head in the sand and avoid anything upsetting (in fact perhaps the next newsletter could be on the importance of doing uncomfortable things) AND you have permission to turn off the news, step away from the phone and the notifications and take time to NOURISH your nervous system, so you can build resilience to persevere. Yes you can!
